Don’t call it a comeback
I been here for years
Rockin my peers and puttin suckas in fear…
(That little bit of LL Cool J is for my Twinner)
Week: -.4 (last weigh-in 3 weeks ago was -4.2)
I was just about to head to Utah when I weighed in. I already had a post set (I was in Utah on Thursday, so I weighed in on Wednesday just to do it.) If you follow me on twitter or MFP then you saw my big loss 3 weeks ago.
I got off the wagon from that point until this week. Part of it was that I kind of thought it was a fluke loss. Three times on the scale and confirmation from the backup scale, and I was really down 4.2 lbs that week. After that, I knew that in Utah I’d be walking everywhere and just gave myself free reign to be reasonable and move a lot, without tracking. I did the same for Thanksgiving time- but I was not always reasonable. I mean, come on… stuffing stuffed crescents.
But as of this week, I’m back. Back on MFP, back tracking, back caring. And I’m glad I didn’t have ground to make up!
For the last two weeks I have been doing Jeff Galloway method running, using the app on my iPhone. And I am in love. I really enjoy the little tips and motivation he shares during the run. Although I think he sounds like Will Ferrell doing a George W. Bush impression. I thought it was a joke at first!
This program (a walk/run interval program) is like the first two weeks of C25K for me. I’m enjoying it. I feel like I can accomplish it without giving up. I feel good at the end- a little tired, but not exhausted or totally spent. Which is how Jeff says you should feel. If you are falling over exhausted then you’re pushing yourself too hard, and can exhaust or injure yourself!
Which leads me to… Saturday. The OUC 5k!!! My friend Lisa from Buffet Laps is doing it and encouraged me to join. Today I picked up my race packet (and a water bottle and iPhone arm band.)
I’m still struggling with the fact that I’m doing this 5k, but not RUNNING the whole thing. I think that 100% running is assumed when you say “I’m doing a 5k.” AKA, “I’m RUNNING a 5k.” But that’s not something I can handle- not yet, at least. I’ll be running probably 50% of the time, maybe less if I struggle at all. I am really excited to be doing this with Lisa. She will be running with me and has been so motivating! I can’t wait to see how it goes!
I’ll give you guys an update after the run on Saturday! You can also follow me on twitter for updates, of course.
Thirty Days of Thanks #29: I am thankful for all the amazing runners in my life who have encouraged me, given me tips, and praised my progress. I 100% could not do it without you all!
