Bump Update – 25 Weeks

Hola everyone!!! IT’S JULY! The month I’ve been waiting for all June long!

25 Weeks (7/1/2013)

How far along? 25 weeks
Baby’s Size: Cauliflower (whaaaaat? Damn baby!)
Maternity clothes? Except yoga pants and t-shirts, always! I finally figured out my outfits for both my trips too. Got a custom eShakti dress for my brother-in-law’s wedding, and I did end up buying that Old Navy chambray top from last post. Still not 100% sure what I’m wearing for pictures Friday but we’ll see… it might be a game time decision! Thanks for all the input!
Best moment this week: B got to feel a LEGIT baby kick! Like a hand-jerks-back, “OHEMGEE” baby kick!!!! The other ones he felt were more light taps, so I had been waiting for a big one! Baby was using one side as a punching bag (which always just makes me crack up!) and I told B to come check it out. He got lucky with a jab!
Miss anything? Being able to shop my own closet for a wedding! I couldn’t re-wear an old dress this time, that’s for sure. After two returns, the one I got today finally got it 95% right. (It’s at the tailor to shorten the straps because I’m apparently oddly shaped.)
Movement: Yep! It’s still staggered throughout the day, but it is awesome when it’s going on! It always makes me smile.
Food cravings: Still sweets. BAD. Like punch-a-kitten-in-the-face-for-a-brownie bad. Chocolate mostly but still loving those sour patch watermelons.
Anything making you queasy or sick: No cause really for my general misery, but it’s manageable! I’ve been hit by what seems to be allergies lately though (chest heaviness, like my major allergies when I lived in North Carolina) so that’s been a bummer and I’m trying to get it under control.
Gender: Still know, still not telling!
Labor signs: Nope.
Symptoms: Same ole, same ole. Hip/back pain and (controlled) nausea and heartburn. Add the allergy symptoms this week too, unfortunately.
Belly button in or out? Innie still, way more when I stand up, but man when I lay down it’s shallower than ever. Which for someone with a life-long cavernous belly button (me) is VERY STRANGE and is actually creeping me out a bit.
Happy or moody most of the time: It’s been a happy week, but I’ve been really anxious about plans for all the upcoming travel and getting everything ready for my trips.
Looking forward to: Having the freaking nursery set up. This is part of my anxiety this week. Starting with week 24, depending what app you look at, you reach “viability” or closer to it, with a “good infant survival rate.” To be morbid, last month going into labor would have meant a very bad outcome. Now- more every week- baby has a better chance to survive should that happen. With every app and email mentioning it, and my Pregnant Chicken email specifically being on pre-term labor, I’m stressed that we don’t have any semblance of a nursery! That’s out of my control right now but let me tell you- it WILL be set up by this time next month. For my sanity. Or NO ONE in this house will have their sanity either!

Can we also talk about how there’s usually around ONE thing a week that just blows my mind from those weekly emails? This week? Baby is about 13 1/2 inches long. LONGER THAN A FIVE DOLLA FOOTLONG. Like a bonus sized footlong sub. Holy crap. I cannot even finish a footlong sub. Does that not blow your mind? Especially with 15 weeks to go!!

Luckily, it wasn’t all anxiety this week. I got to spend some good time with B on Thursday night. We went out to dinner with some friends to a total foodie restaurant. Ok, the fanciness of the food caused me anxiety (surprise, surprise) so it wasn’t totally anxiety-free. And it was tough to go to a place known for it’s booze when I can’t drink! But it was AWESOME to get out of the house, talk to other people, and see B in his total element. It was awesome!

Here’s my outfit from dinner:

This pic inspired only votes of “boy!” on instagram. I am really enjoying everyone’s guesses! I’ll do a formal post next week to see what everyone thinks, while sharing the results of some common “old wives’ tales” I’ve heard before. Send me your favorites and I’ll start compiling!

Happy July, everyone! It’s going to be a great month!

  • Love that dress! I can’t believe Baby is over a foot long already – wow! So excited for your showers to hear whether Baby is a he or a she!

  • The chambray shirt was SO cute. Good choice!! :)
I can’t believe baby is already SO BIGGGG. ACK

  • amy

you look amazing! I’m glad you were able to find the old navy shirt! It’s so cute!!

I read this blog post once a long time ago about how it’s always a mad dash to get the nursery ready but the baby sleeps in your room in the beginning anyway, so if it’s not perfect that’s okay!! Make sure you have your bedroom sleeping arrangements sorted out and then slowly chip away at the nursery! I’m sure your little babe will sit tight and you’ll have a beautiful nursery when the time finally comes!

  • Yay for reveal month!!!!!! So excited for baby Nick/ Nikki’s big reveal :) That is so exciting the B got to feel kicks! Baby is getting so big!!!

Also, can I come decorate your nursery? I have the intense desire to do one… I have great ideas :)

  • It’s amazing how different being ready for baby 1 and baby 2 are. I was like you when preg with Mackenzie and the nursery had to be done. Clothes blankets and sheets had to be washed. She was early at 34 weeks and then never even stayed in her nursery since we moved unexpectedly back to IN When she was 5/6 months old.
This baby….I’m like we need a rock n play and bottles before the baby is born. Along with clothes and diapers of course. :)
Hope that nursery gets done. Can’t wait to see the old wives tales and answers.

  • The nursery is always on my list, too. There’s a crib and bedding. That’s it. Um, I want, make that NEED sour watermelons now. Oh, and I posted a bunch of old wives tales on my blog before I revealed the gender, if you want to check them out,
