Happy Friday, everyone!
My first order of business is announcing the giveaway winner. Which I wouldn’t believe if I didn’t see it pop up on Rafflecopter with my own eyes!!!!
(I blurred IP Address because I have no idea if that should be private or not, haha)
The winner is none other than Jessica from You Are My Color! Aka, my buddy who was also doing a nail polish giveaway!
Jessica, I guess the nail polish gods giveth and taketh away… you did a fun giveaway but now you have won one, too!
And in case anyone is suspicious, I didn’t win her giveaway. Rafflecopter just wanted to remind me of that by having her win mine. Rafflecopter, you are a cruel mistress.
Now back to the other part of this post… Nail Files with Tara and Vicki!
I did my nails on Sunday in a green color from a very cheap brand. BAD CHOICE. I did them around 4pm, and the texture was thick/brush was bad. Despite my best efforts, I kept seeing MULTIPLE bubbles pop up. I decided to mostly cover them the next day with a metallic. I went to bed around midnight or one. The next morning not only were there bubbles, but also major sheet imprints. Eight+ hours after doing them!!! Horrible. I still added the metallic (Orly Rage) but it was too late… I removed the polish Wednesday.
I loved the color combo (and this would have looked awesome with a pale aqua and rose gold!) but it was chipping badly. But look what happened when I took it off…
I did everything- I prepped my nails, used a base coat, used good polish remover… and my nails are still yellow-green. It’s a little greener in real life. I tried scrubbing them with whitening toothpaste- they felt smoother, but were not lighter. Any other suggestions?
I am giving my nails a breather now, but plan to use one of my Julep colors this weekend. I thought the September Trina Turk colors were so rich, and saturated, and… special. I switched it up and went with the Bombshell box, since in the It Girl box (my usual) two out of three colors were near dupes of ones I already had. Plus, the Bombshell box came with mascara! (It is an AWESOME mascara, bee tee dubs.) The polishes I got were Annie and Alma:

I’m thinking the blue shade, with a matte topcoat? I shall report back next week! Go join in the Nail Files this week! And congrats to Jessica!

congrats to the jessica that won. I totally got my hopes up when I saw “Jessica” and then they came crashing down when it wasn’t me. Silly popular 80s name!
shut your face!!!! friend!! this has totally made my day. my life, really. thank you soooo much!!!
^^and I’ve totally been there with the thinking it was me but it was another jessica :(
Congratulatons Jessica! Super bummed. I had planned on winning. I’ll try harder next time.
LOL I know what you mean, I love when I totally plan on winning a giveaway… then if I don’t I’m like, “um, excuse me, this was mine, yes?” I do owe you though since you sent me the pug print so we’ll have to do something for YOU next! :)
Damn. I saw Jessica and got excited.
Also, I love that you used “bee tee dubs.”
That blue color? CUTE.
Seems to be a trend that all the Jessicas got excited…. Why are there so many of us?!?
Ok, first of all, I have had nail polish turn my nails funky colors after I took it off. I find that cheap brands do that, which is why I save my money and only buy the (little bit) better brands.
Second, what is this Bombshell box you are referring to?? Is it like Birchbox? Tell me MORE!
eek! i hate when nail polish stains your nails!! i love the metallic nail polish though!
