I promised you all I’d share my nails from the wedding I went to in NJ, and of course forgot! But what better reason than last week’s intense sorority nail polish post? This week I’m here and have it for ya!
I was inspired by this gold leaf manicure, but I’m not going to buy gold leaf… sorry, not worth it! I figured out my own way to get this look.
I got a manicure in NYC the day before the wedding (two weeks ago, time flies!) with my best friend. It was essie Turquiose & Caicos.
By the time I got back that evening to NJ it was dry. I took tape and laid it across the nail, at the top left corner going to the halfway point of the right side. I didn’t de-stick the tape at all, since my nails were professionally done and dried and I knew I wouldn’t pull up any polish. This helped keep my lines clean.
The end result?
I took this on my way to the wedding. I was thrilled with how it came out! It was very Hooch, and since it was her wedding, I was excited about it. B said it was, in his opinion, my worst manicure ever. Worst being most outlandish/crazy/weird. He’s not a huge fan of that!
I did my toes too… it was surprisingly easy and I will definitely employ this tape trick for future manicures. I love the simple shape of it.
Ugh I hate pictures of feet. But you had to see it.
I did another fun summer color this week, with one of the polishes that Alyssa hunted down for me! It’s OPI A Roll in the Hague.
That’s a pretty horrible iPhone picture with nasty lighting. The only other picture I took was a joke- I was chatting with some friends about the annoying things about manicure photos- the ring that happens to pop in the shot, the ubiquitous claw, or clutching of the polish container… so I took this one as a joke to share with them. And now my nails don’t look tip top so you have to deal with my joke photo.
Like I said… a joke. I’m not in the habit of wearing my ring on top of my knuckle. (And FYI in case you creep on my pictures… I usually don’t wear my ring since I work from home- usually without showering until AFTER work- and unless I’m going out I leave it off to avoid the wear and tear. Still happily married. I don’t want anyone to call Extra or anything!)
I love A Roll in the Hague, it’s the perfect red/orange color. It looked a lot less red in the last picture I took of it. Which is totally fine, because I’m in love with it. It’s a great end of summer color.
What to try next? I am on the hunt for a discounted Butter London color… stay tuned!
And as always, I am linking up with Tara and Vicki for the Nail Files!
Join in for the nail polish fun!

LOVE!!! i need to try the tape trick with a mani!
I love the gold tips – such a fun idea! I’m still so jealous of how awesome your nails always look! Mine turn into a hot mess anytime I try to paint them!
Thanks! Mine usually look like a hot mess right after I do a manicure but that’s what clean up is for :) I usually don’t take a picture until after I shower since the hair-washing gets off whatever is left stuck to my skin! I’m doing a post hopefully next week about how I do my nails… and a giveaway! So stay tuned!
Very nice! I did a very similar manicure with coral and gold :)
I love gold, it’s one of my favorite nail colors!
I absolutely love the reddish orange color- OPI always has the best colors (in my humble opinion). :)
I would love for you to stop by sometime and say hi! leslyni.blogspot.com
Hope you have a fabulous weekend!
