You guys!! I went out this weekend!!! And it was fun and all was right with the world.
Now if only I could find a friend with a pool, I’d look good doing it too.
On Friday, B let me know that his coworkers invited him out for drinks after work on Saturday. This meant something like 11pm, so I slept in on Saturday to be able to stay up that late. And then… I did makeup! And put on a cute shirt!
I already posted this pic yesterday, but since I rarely put on makeup… you’re welcome.
(If you had to look at me every day you honestly would be thanking me.)
I got to meet the people B works with every day. Many of them are from New York, so I felt right at home. We had a blast, and it was nice to be around people other than pugs again.
We woke up early (for us) on Sunday to go pick up our couch. It is a sectional, with three pieces. And guess what? They’re heavy. So we sweat it out moving it down the previous owner’s stairs (at least we didn’t have to go UP) and loaded it into a truck. Luckily, it went right into our living room from our front door. Still… I have not worked that hard in a long, long time. After our “workout” was over, we showered and got ready to go to…
I hadn’t been there in nearly twenty years!!!! And where we specifically went at WDW, I had never been…
It was my dream to go to Epcot, and B is there daily. Clearly unfair. So we had to go!
The quintessential Epcot photo. It was so huge in person!
We went on Spaceship Earth first… B felt it was the best introduction to Epcot, and I had to agree! Although our ride stopped twice for no apparent reason.
We went on a few other (educational style) rides and visited The Land and The Living Seas. After that we shared an ice cream and head to the part I was waiting for… the countries!!!
The first stop was my country obsession (I don’t know why, but I am fascinated by Canada’s culture) and it was timely, since Sunday was Canada Day!!!
I was in heaven. What a cool place. It was quite possibly my favorite gift shop to browse also.
The United Kingdom was equally beautiful. France, even more so. We found one of our best friends in France…
It’s Remy from the Disney movie, Ratatouille! We both love this movie, because it’s about an aspiring, passionate chef like B. It was also one of the first movies we saw together.
Next up was Morocco. Per B, the King of Morocco wanted it to be authentic in Epcot so he sent over workers and materials to make it as true to life as possible. It worked! After Morocco was Japan, which was also breathtaking. By this time, the fatigue from hours of lifting and walking was setting in though.
We stopped by The American Adventure for a concert. Slippery When Wet (a Bon Jovi tribute band) was performing and they. were. awesome. I enjoyed the fact that somewhere in the large audience, someone undoubtedly thought it was actually Bon Jovi.
We enjoyed Italy of course, since it’s beautiful. Being in Epcot’s Italy felt like being in real Italy. I saw so many things in the shop there that I wanted to take home with me. Including these mouse ears:
Yeah, I was losing the battle to the heat. Very badly.
We definitely plan to go to the restaurants in Italy soon, but had to bypass due to budget restraints. Next up was Germany, a perfect place to share a large beer and a soft pretzel. That helped us power up to get to the next area… China! Which is where we decided to eat some (non-authentic) Chinese food for dinner- orange chicken. It was tasty, but I was disappointed in the lack of fortune cookie. It’s already only mildly authentic, people. Gimme that cookie. We had more beer too. You have to. It’s hot and you’re in China.
At this point, we were ready to poop out. We were almost five hours in. But the next country was Norway. Which is our shared heritage (Scandinavian.) We loved the smells in the gift shop, and the viking items. B even found a Norwegian cookbook (ugh, no thanks.)
Since we had honored our ancestors by browsing the Norwegian gift shop, it was time to go. While we love Mexican food, and Mexican vacations, we still breezed through that country. Sorry… sweatiness prevails. I collapsed into the car and have never been happier for air conditioning.
It was such an amazing introduction to Epcot. Since we can go for free, we will have to head there for a delicious dinner sometime. Any recommendations for what to check out at Epcot when visiting again? This weekend was a success and hopefully this means I’ll be leaving the house more often!

Not sure how much Norwegian food and Swedish food differ, but I am guessing not that much so I would say you were right on passing up the cookbook!!! hehehe
Honestly though if you want some good Scandinavian / Swedish recipes let me know and I help!
1) I <3 Hemborgwife's comment. So funny.
2) The ride stops to let people who are disabled off and on, its an easier to access ride but has to be stopped to let them do that. Also. This is my favorite ride in the park. Also, when I was 14 we (no joke) saw a guy get a BJ in it. My parents were with us, it was mortifying.
3) I am super jealous of all of this.
4) I <3 Epcot so much. We will go together soon. I will teach you all the tricks. You will enjoy.
5) <3 you! You are so pretty!
So much fun! The last time I was at Epcot was probably middle school, so it’s been awhile. Plus, my middle school pockets definitely did not have enough dinero for restaurants in Italy. I would love, love, love to go again. When you go, please get food pictures and let us know how delish it is!
A lot of people get sick on that ride, it stopped for us too. :(
I can’t wait to go to Disney again, so much fun!!
First of all, I am super jealous that you get to go to Disney!! I love that place!! The hubs has never been and I am determined to take him once before we have little ones so he can experience it! The countries are my favorite part of Disney.
Second, I am totally thinking i am never going to leave my house other than to go to work and come home once we move. First of all because I am not great with meeting new people, second because I won’t know how to get anywhere!! I hope I get to leave my house like you did!
Love the little Remy figure, too precious. I too love that movie. Jealous of your Disney trip. My hubby and are are hoping to take one for our anni next year.
You look great and it seems like ya’ll had a really fun trip!
Such a fun day at Epcot! I haven’t been in years, but now I really want to go back and bring LC.
Ah, that looks like SO much fun! I’m jealous – I’ve always wanted to go there!
Apparently going to Epcot during Food and Wine is one of the best times to go – it’s in the fall. We happened to visit in 2010 when it was going on and it did seem to be hopping at night! Lots of little stands for small plates and small pours.
