Another awesome Five Question Friday from My Little Life to get me thinking and talking!
I also plan to do a manicure after my workout tonight so I can link up with the awesome Nail Files later. Any manicure suggestions? I’m thinking something fun and fresh… but that’s all I’ve got. I’m secretly wishing for fall so I can do darker nails though, don’t tell!
Here goes nothin’…
1. What’s your favorite childhood snack that you still eat as an adult?
As you’ve all read, I was a horribly picky eater. I still love the basics like peanut butter on crackers, but we did have a few weirder “snacks” that I enjoy to this day. Two that come to mind? Smartfood White Cheddar Popcorn dipped in peanut butter. It sounds absolutely disgusting if you’re a normal person, but try it if you’re ever brave enough. I love it! If I have a little popcorn (it has to be Smartfood brand white cheddar) for a snack, but want it to really drop-kick my hunger, I add a tablespoon of PB and get my protein on. I also will eat apples almost exclusively in the same way. Apples dipped in honey. Has to be Granny Smith (I’ve tried the rest, but they’re all too sweet/mushy) and I dip it in whatever honey is around. The best was the blueberry honey we got at a Farmer’s Market in Indiana. Of course they don’t have a website. Can we do a reverse giveaway where the winner has to send me some? Please?
2. What food will you not eat the low fat version of?
This is a tough one, and I’m not sure there’s an answer. I don’t like the low-fat versions of some things… like cheese. You know that the lower fat the cheese, the worse it tastes/melts. I’ll use it once in a while but only for certain applications where you can’t tell as much.
I will say that low fat Cheez-Its are gross, and I’d never buy them. But if they were in front of me I’d probably eat them. Sad but true.
3. What’s your favorite way to cool off during the summer?
Since I’m still pretty weird about walking on grass, you won’t see me running through sprinklers anytime soon. The best way to cool off during the summer is to go to the beach, sit in the shade, and take lots of dips in the ocean. Nothing beats the ocean breeze on a hot day. I will be there (the beach in my mind is in New Jersey, of course) in August, and I cannot wait! A pool would be my second choice. And if neither of these are available (or then again, if they are) I would suggest a tall, freezing cold, alcoholic beverage. Stat.
4. What’s your favorite summer read?
I’ve moved away from some “heavier” reads lately for ones that are a bit more lighthearted. I read a book I adored on my trip to Indy last week, called Oogy. Thanks to my pal Vic who bought it for me!
I finished it the first day since I had extra time at the airport. The early chapter where they went in-depth (light in-depth, sad but not too graphic) on dog fighting and Oogy’s injuries had me bawling. But besides that it was lots of smiles.
The next book in my queue is The Year of the Gadfly, thanks to this review by the awesome Nikki on her blog, The Fashionable Wife. I just have to find a copy… I am hoping to also find a pool to lay by on Saturday, so perhaps I will get lucky.
5. What are you doing to stay cool in this awful heat?
I rarely have occasion to leave the house, what with working from home and having no friends and all. Also, my car is currently without air conditioning. So I think I’ll just stay indoors.
That’s it for this Five Question Friday… join me, won’t you? And tweet me some nail polish ideas if you feel like it too. I need inspiration!
