Yesterday was the fun, relaxing day off I needed!
Late Friday night, BIL Steve arrived. Unfortunately some idiot chick took his suitcase off their bus, so we had to stop at CVS for some essentials. Luckily, we had gotten him a sweatshirt and t-shirt for Christmas/his birthday, so he had some extra clothing. B got home from work pretty late, but the three of us hung out until past 2:00AM.
We got up earlier and drove just over a half hour to their dad’s house. Almost all of us have birthdays in March and April- me, B, Steve, Andrew (another brother), B’s stepmom, stepbrother, and Aunt P. Plus, we had our anniversary! We got to all hang out, eat great Lebanese food, and of course, ice cream cake! Then we spent some time chatting with their brother Jeremy over skype, since he’s still in Spain.
In a crazy coincidence, their uncle was down in Bloomington visiting his mom, the same place (an hour and a half away) where the suitcase-stealing chick was. He was able to pick up the suitcase and bring it back to B’s dad’s house.
When we got the suitcase in hand, us “kids” went back to Indy. Our plan was to head to Thr3e Wise Men to get some beers, and to meet up with my pal Stephanie to FINALLY exchange Christmas gifts!!! One detail we overlooked, though? Butler. You know, that team that is now in the final four? From the University only a mile or so from my house? Darn them. (I mean… GO BUTLER! But darn them for ruining my plans.) Every place in Indy with alcohol and TV was PACKED. So we got a variety of (very different!) six packs and then went back to our house to watch the game with B’s brothers. Andrew just moved back to Indy, and Steve lives in Chicago, so it was fun catching up. (PS – for those who are interested, the beers were Rogue Mocha Porter, Upland Rad Red Amber Ale, Sun King Wee Mac, Boulevard Irish Ale, and New Belgium 1554.)
Stephanie and her hubby were able to stop by our house for our gift exchange! Naturally I accosted her for a photo on my porch.
I LOVE THIS LADY!!!! I could stick around and chat up Steph for hours and hours and hours. She just gets me. Her hubby too. (Sorry for holding you hostage with my chatter!) Steph got me the most adorable pug card and magnets (which my fridge needed desperately) in not just fawn but black as well! But the best gift of all was Steph admitting she secretly likes our photos that I force strangers to take for us. I have it in writing now. I SHALL NEVER STOP! NO SHAME!
After Steph left, I continued hanging with the hub and the bros. We watched lots of basketball and talked and laughed. And fed the pugs beer.
Don’t worry, we just let them lick empty bottles. Sophie and Dixie are huge fans, but we’ve only recently brought proper Harles to the dark side. Look at how angry Sophie is that she wasn’t the first to be offered!
I happened to be a party pooper and fell asleep probably around 9-something on the couch. This morning I got up for work at Old Navy, but B and his brother got to go to lunch with their dad. Then B went to work as well.
Overall- not a bad weekend! We still both had to work but we got in some great food and family time. And for me- blog buddy time as well! Tomorrow is my first day of work at my new job, so I’m glad I had this time to relax a bit before that.
Hope you all had a great weekend too! Anyone drink a fun and interesting beer they’d like to share with me?!?!?!

YAY for a fun weekend! Maybe one day you all will hike on down to Gainesville and we can accost strangers and chat for hours. That would be wonderful.
GOOD LUCK TODAY GIRL – YOU’RE GONNA ROCK IT!
Yay for your first day on the job!! Hope all goes well for you.
Sounds like you had an awesome weekend. The only left-field beer I can tell you that I liked would be the blueberry ale I tried at a local restaurant.
Glad you got to have a good weekend, you deserve it! I did try a beer actually this weekend, Orange Blossom Cream Ale by Buffalo Bill Brewery. Got a good solid ale flavor with some orange hints but it’s the aftertaste where you can really get that creamsical(sp?) type flavor… I tasted like honey and orange zest.
Hey blogger buddy!! :) It was so great to see you this weekend and catch up Friday night! We must NEVER let it go that long again, promise?! Thanks for the love! You’ll kick butt today for sure!!! :-D
Glad you got some downtime.
I like your scarf.
Your neighborhood looks super cute too.
:)
