What’s Your Sign?

…I don’t know anymore!

I couldn’t believe it when I heard that the Zodiac signs had changed. I kept telling people at work that “they” changed the zodiac signs. I’m not sure who “they” are, and when I go check my horoscope it still says the original twelve. But yea… “they” changed them. You can read about it here, among many other place.

I was born April 2 which made me an Aries. Now, according to the “new” zodiac, I’m a Pisces. Some signs didn’t change (like B’s! He’s still a Pisces) but most did.

The old Zodiac:

Now it is discovered that it should be broken up like this:

Capricorn: Jan. 20 – Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 – March 11
Pisces: March 11- April 18
Aries: April 18 – May 13
Taurus: May 13 – June 21
Gemini: June 21 – July 20
Cancer: July 20 – Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10 – Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16 – Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30 – Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23 – Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29 – Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17 – Jan. 20

This confuses me for many reasons. Why is Scorpio only 6 days? Why do all the beginning/end dates overlap (like my sister Min is a Nov. 23 baby… is she a Libra or Scorpio?) And… WHAT IS OPHIUCHUS?

I was immediately sad that I have become an Pisces. Let’s investigate.

A description of an Aries:

Strengths: Courage, determination, self-confidence, enthusiasm.
Weaknesses: Impatience, silly arguments, allowing fear to limit choices.
Charismatic marks: Athletic body, youthful attitude, a need to take the lead.
Likes: Comfortable clothes, taking the lead, physical challenges, individual sports.
Dislikes: Inactivity, delays, work that doesn’t use one’s talents.
Best environment: Any situation that requires action, courage in the face of fear, competition, and freedom of choice. Aries individuals are better outside being active than staying close to home.

The weaknesses might as well say my name on them. EXACTLY. I’m not as courageous or athletic as they claim. But all Aries can’t be athletes right? Aries are outgoing, strong-willed individuals. It’s a fit. So, um, yep! I relate.

Pisces, on the other hand:

Strengths: Intuitive, compassionate, artistic, gentle, wise, musical.
Weaknesses: Can be a victim or martyr, fearful, overly trusting, sad, desire to escape reality.
Charismatic marks: Soft, sometimes frail to medium build. Face easily shows emotion.
Likes: Spiritual themes, time alone, visual media, time to sleep, romance, music, swimming.
Dislikes: Know-it-alls, the past coming back to haunt, being criticized, cruelty of any kind.
Best environment: On or near water, especially the sea. The movie theater.

In this profile, the dislikes hit the nail on the head for me. But I think they probably do for lots of people. I also like water. But that’s about it. I’m so not a Pisces!

Who does this change suck for the most? People who have zodiac tattoos, definitely.

Anyway, it’s poll time! Did your sign change? What do you think about this? Does your new sign fit you at all? Do you think this is even legit?

I’m probably thinking into this too much. Oh well!

PS- I’m dying to find someone who is an Ophiuchus! Anyone? Bueller?

Ophiuchus is just another constellation in the milky way, and they’re saying that because the earth spins differently, slower, more wobbly, has moved further from the stars? Whatever….that during those times, that’s the constellation that was closest to the sun (I think…I think that’s how it goes) but everything I’ve read says that these have changed a LOT over the past 2000 years and it’s never been noted. Something else I read said it would only apply to people born in 2009 or later…but who?? Like you said…who changed it? I don’t know. Maybe we’re being punked? Because it kind of feels like it.

  • Mine stayed the same. Sagittarius for Dec 20. Which is weird because I always thought since I was on the cusp, I tended to be more like a Capricorn, but yea. So this doesn’t effect those born before 2009 as Layla mentioned…I’m confused and I must have been busy today because I didn’t hear about this at all until now. Thanks for keeping me current, KJ!

I think I’m a Ophiuchus? My birthday is December 17th, so I’m not really sure…

  • I refuse to embrace this nonsense! I’m an Aries through and through, and not changing no matter what!

P.S. Your birthday is only 7 days before mine. Yay for April babies!

  • My sign is apparently “Shitty Friend” because I totally didn’t realize that your blog changed back like eleventy bajillion months ago!!! I just thought you were on a blogging break and kept wondering why the old KJPugs thing wasn’t updating on my list.

    See?…Shitty Friend!

I’m SO sorry….I’m caught up now and have to say that you look FABULOUS (although you totally have since the day I met you, but your new transformation is very inspiring!!!)

Kiss the kids for me. Tell Sophie that Holden asked how her boobs are.

    Love,
    L.

Yeah I heard that it doesn’t apply to people of our generation because it only affects those born after 2009. I was a Pisces and then it said Aquarius. Totally doesn’t describe me at all. Also, I HAVE A TATTOO of the Pisces symbol. Haha I’d have been really peeved!! I think it’s a prank or something but who knows. I’ll believe it when the papers horoscope section has this new one. ;) And I’m with you, there shouldn’t be overlapping dates. That makes it seem all the more fake.

  • I’m still a taurus! whole lotta bull baby!

  • Ale is one of those…ophiwhatever they’re called. Dunno what that means. And I’m supposedly a sagittarius and I’m sooo not. I’m a textbook capricorn.

  • I do not like this change either….no zodiac tattoos here, but I don’t think I fit into the other signs traits at all. (I went from Libra to Virgo) I don’t know what this world is coming to though. I want to keep my sign and wish that Pluto was still a planet!

  • I am seriously SO confused by this — I’m like your sister and my birthday is listed for two different signs (my b-day is October 30th). So does that make me a Virgo? Or maybe a Libra? Does it depend on what time of the freaking day I was born? I have no clue. I’m just sticking with my “old” sign – Scorpio.

  • I don’t want to be a Pisces. I’m an Aries, dang it! This is so weird, but I did learn that our birthdays are seven days apart (I’m in March).

  • There was an article about this on CNN.com (http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/01/13/no-your-zodiac-sign-hasnt-changed/) about how the signs didn’t really change for those of us who follow the seasonal signs, which most Westerner’s (hemisphere wise) do. So technically, you’re still good!

It’s still fun to poke at people who have tattoos of their sign ;) They say I’m now a Gemini but I totally want to stick with Cancer. It’s how I identify myself!

  • Nichole

Your sign didn’t change because you weren’t born from 2009-present. My b-day is 12/8 so I’m a Sagittarius.. but if a baby was born on my birthday last year, then they would be an Ophiuchus.

  • Dancy

It’s all BS. But if you believe it – I’m a Capricorn through & through – like, someone wrote that shizz about me. I’m not changing. I don’t even want to look up what being a Sagittarius would describe. Hah!

  • I am like you, all of a sudden a Pisces, which isn’t me at all. But I’m on the edge, so I’m sticking with Aries. And I heard it only applies to some people after a certain year or something…who knows…
